I have been an aircraft crew chief for 19 years, working on everything from a Cessna 172 to a Bombardier Global express intercontinental corporate jet. For the past 10 years I have been working in a Bombardier completion center were we use many different 3M products. The one item that stands out in my mind are the epoxies that we use. The 3M epoxy that stands out in my mind is the DP line of 100 and 400 series epoxy. I have adapted them to my hobby and building of giant scale remote controlled aircraft. The epoxy is so versatile I use it anywhere from hinges to firewall mounts.

I keep tubes of 3M in my trailer for quick repairs at the field using the DP100. This epoxy dries in 10 minutes.

THE STARTER KIT

The 3M™ Scotch-Weld™glue kit ($73.00) contains (1) applicator gun, (10) mix nozzles, and (2) glue cartridges. The glue cartridges available in the kit are the DP 420 and the DP 460. Please specify if you would like one of each or two of one of the DP 420 or DP 460. Also available are replacement glue cartridges, extra applicator guns and nozzle packs. NOTE: EPX plus II applicator gun comes with a 2:1 and 1:1 plunger so there is no need to purchase a separate plunger.

THE APPLICATOR

The EPX Plus II Applicator is used to dispense 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ adhesives in duo-pak cartridges. The applicator is a low-cost portable, self contained metering, mixing and dispensing machine that simultaneously meters and mixes two-part adhesives as the material is applied.

3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP100 Clear Duo-Pak $10.25

A Fast Setting, Room Temperature Curing, Two-Part Adhesive for Bonding a Variety of Materials Like Metals, Ceramics, Wood and Many Plastics.

It has a 1:1 mix ratio. It permits application on many vertical surfaces. Features: Fast cure adhesive with a 5 minute work life, and develops handling strength in approximately 15 minutes. It's low viscosity allows easy dispensing and is ideal for filleting and potting.
